Houska - Castle

Town: Horní Houska - směr Bořejov

Erected probably by the Lords from Dubé in 1280 – 1290 as an early Gothic seat influenced by the cistercian- burgundian works. It was rebuilt as a Renaissance chateau around 1590. Two important restorations happened in 1823 and in 1930. The castle consists of a massive tetragonal building with a closed courtyard in the middle. The odd fortification seems to be drown up against an enemy inside the castle. The entrance in the hell was believed to be located here, and the castle may have been built to avoid the devil invasion.
